Jeffrey Makin is one of Australia’s foremost practicing artists. His profound influence on all spheres of Australian visual culture over the past three decades is unparalleled. Makin’s collaboration with and critiquing of the other greats of Australian painting, amongst them Williams, Olsen and Storrier, place him in a unique position in Australian art history.
The past few years have seen a dramatic resurgence in the creative power of his work. Critical acclaim for his painting, printmaking and drawing is reaching new heights. He is an artist who is famed for his depictions of the fundamental nature of the Australian landscape, masterfully combining Eastern and Western visual philosophies within an academic picture plane.
