Rob Tucker
With a number of solo exhibitions under his belt so far and successful showing at both the 2010 Melbourne Art Fair and Art Sydney, Rob Tucker is a young artist with a bright future.
Rob Tucker is a young New Zealand artist whose quirky imagery references the bombardment of advertising in our mass media obsessed lives.
"Subverting advertising plays a big part in my work. If anything, I try to manufacture feelings by making my work visually tasteful by painting light hearted images to evoke nostalgic experiences that grasp the viewer. Just like an advertisement does."
With an expressive style resembling the great New York grafitti artist, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Tucker incorporates words and blocks of colour alongside bold imagery of iconic objects, brands and emblems.
