Nicholas Blowers
Lives and works in Hobart, Tasmania.
A finalist in the Glover Prize 2009 & 2008 and Fleurieu Art Prize 2008, his work has already been included in the Parliament House and Macquarie Bank Collections.
Educated at the Southhampton Institute (BA Honours Fine Art) and Braintree College UK, (BTEC Art & Design) from 1989-1994, Blowers' arrival on the Sydney art scene has been met with extensive critical acclaim and sell-out exhibitions.
Twice winner of the Paddington Art Prize, 2009 & 2007, Blowers also took out the prestigious Kings School Art Prize in 2007. A finalist in the Glover Prize 2009 & 2008 and Fleurieu Art Prize 2008, his work has already been included in the Parliament House and Macquarie Bank Collections.
Blowers joined the Art Equity stable in 2009 and his latest body of work places him as one of the leading young artists to emerge in Australia. Through intense examination of the landscape, Blowers attempts to reconstruct the micro environments twig by twig, leaf by leaf. The result is a unique interpretation which allows the artist to showcase his highly refined skills as a painter.
