Morten Lassen
Born 1968. Lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark.
For Lassen, the existentialism of painting has become his oeuvre.

Education, Lassen has worked exclusively as an artist since 1995.
Having held dozens of solo and group exhibitions in Denmark,
Sweden, Germany and the UK and seven solo exhibitions in
Australia since 2003, Lassen has established himself firmly as an
artist of considerable reputation both in Australia and
internationally.
Collected widely within his native Denmark, his works are included
in significant public and private collections including: Danske
Advokater; Ministery of the Interior and Health; Det Gule Palæ,
Gråsten; IBO, Herlev; HTH, Åbenrå; Den Danske Bank, Haderslev;
Multisal, Gråsten skole Telenor, Ballerup; Pfizer, København;
Ålborg Universitet; The Traffic Department Copenhagen county;
and KPMG, Sydney.
International Scholarships have included: Jyllands-Postens
Scholarship Studio in Berlin, 2004; Artist in residence, Sydney
Grammar School, 2003; and Den Hielmstjerne Rosencroneske Stiftelse
(Multisal), 1999.
Undoubtedly an abstractionist, Lassen feels that his work is not
based on anything in particular in the real world. For him,
the existentialism of painting has become his oeuvre. It is
important to realise with Lassen's work that there is a meditative
quality - the result of seeing and feeling one's environment.
Structures create frameworks on the picture plane for colour and
tonal variation, whilst in his latest body of work, high key
intensity of colour is applied adding a frenetic dynamism.
