Jason Benjamin

Born 1973. Lives and works in Sydney.

His technical abilities particularly as a printmaker and his aesthetic sensibility create work of the finest quality.

Benjamin has been exhibiting since 1989. Over the last decade, he has shown extraordinary perseverance in his rise to be regarded as one of the hottest painters in Australia. His creative talents saw him work as a chef and in the music industry before fully dedicating himself to an art career.

He has been short listed in The Australian Art Collector Magazine's 50 Most Collectable Australian Artists alongside the critically acclaimed names of Blackman, Olsen, Whiteley, Boyd and Nolan.

Benjamin's romanticised landscapes are both evocative and visually stunning.  His technical abilities, particularly as a printmaker, and his aesthetic sensibility create work of the finest quality. 

He has exhibited extensively in Australia and abroad with shows in London, Tokyo, Singapore and New York. With sell-out exhibitions for the last decade, his success and the broad appeal of his work has attracted enormous interest worldwide. Included in the collections of many State and Regional galleries, his prize winnings include the 2005 Packing Room Prize, Archibald Prize, Art Gallery of New South Wales; 2004 Finalist, Archibald Prize, Art Gallery of New South Wales; and 2002 Finalist, The Doug Moran National Portrait Prize.
